The Bullseye group (AKA NRA Precision Pistol) hosted a match on Saturday, September 17. There were 11 shooters from all over the state, hailing from as far as Lynden, Seattle, and Spokane. Chuck D. won the match with 1701 points out of a possible 1800. Nice work Chuck! That’s master level shooting. It was a nice day that started out a little cool but there was no smoke. Everyone enjoyed shooting on our beautiful range.
Precision Pistol uses the Turning Target Range. Several different stages are fired for record, starting with 50 yard targets for slow fire and moving to 25 yard targets for timed and rapid fire. The turning targets allow for 5 shots in 20 seconds for timed fire, and 5 shots in 10 seconds for rapid fire. All shots are one-handed; focus and discipline is critical. It’s an excellent way to learn fundamentals for sight alignment and trigger control. Competitors use both .22 rimfire and .45 caliber pistols, with the option of using an additional centerfire caliber. For some perspective on Chuck’s accomplishment, he was able to achieve a 95% average on a target that has 10-ring the size of a coffee cup lid over the course of a 4-hour match.
The Bullseye group has been hosting at least one match for the past four years and has seen growing interest to attend our event.
